Presented live via webconference by the CBA's National Immigration Law Section
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) introduced significant changes to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, Regulations in April 2011. These Regulatory changes were designed to ensure employers were in fact complying with the terms of employment offered to foreign workers, such terms having been approved by Service Canada under a labour market opinion (LMO). There has been a great deal of discussion and commentary on the implications to employers of these new compliance regulations.
This seminar will focus on the implications for lawyers giving legal advice and providing legal services with respect to LMO applications. The primary content of the program will be ethics and practice management in the context of a LMO application.
Speakers:
Barbara Jo (BJ) Caruso, Corporate Immigration Law Firm (Toronto)
Roxanne Israel, Egan LLP (Calgary)
Kevin Zemp (Moderator), Global Immigration Solutions and Legal Services (Calgary)
