Presented live via webconference by the CBA's National Environmental, Energy and Resources Law Section
When do your clients’ issues attract federal regulation? This session will explore the following issues. How the constitutional division of powers roll out in practice? How does the federal regulatory role interplay with that of the provinces and municipalities? Does the answer change depending on where you are in the country? How does the federal government organize itself to regulate the environment? What is the mandate of the federal Minister of the Environment and when can your clients expect to come into contact with the federal government? What is the mandate of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and is there overlap between the two? Is there collaboration between federal departments with an environmental mandate? What about collaboration between the federal government and the provinces?
