CETA, NAFTA and TPP: Navigating Trade Agreements in a Shifting Landscape

Advising clients on what they can or cannot do within the existing trade and investment law framework has become very complicated.

CETA is provisionally in effect, but the UK is set to leave the EU in 2019. What happens in between now and Brexit? What contingencies should businesses consider? Are there risks in relying on CETA before Brexit?

NAFTA is being renegotiated. How do lawyers advise clients who have organized their businesses around NAFTA's provisions? Are their business interests in jeopardy?

The US has withdrawn from the Trans Pacific Partnership but it will be resurrected as CPTPP, which has been signed by all members and will become effective when at least 6 have ratified it domestically. What will this change involve, and what might Canada's role be?

Join our panel of experts as they cut through the geopolitical noise to give you the latest on the status of these agreements and share their predictions for the near future. Topics will include:

• Status updates on NAFTA, CETA, Brexit, and CPTPP
• CETA and Brexit: What happens in between?
• Consequences if NAFTA falls apart and strategies in the interim
• The view on the ground: UK & Mexico
• Advising your clients when you don't know which way the trade winds blow
