Marijuana Use and the Workplace


 

The Canadian government’s intention to legalize marijuana for non-medical, recreational use means that labour and employment lawyers must understand the legal issues surrounding marijuana in the workplace.
 
In this webinar, our knowledgeable speakers will discuss the employer’s duty to accommodate in the context of marijuana use and dependency. They will also explain how employers can implement policies to ensure that employees are fit to perform their duties and in compliance with safety obligations.
 
Topics will include:
• Impairment and testing in the workplace
• The Ontario Superior Court’s upholding of the Toronto Transit Commission’s drug testing policy
• The Supreme Court of Canada decision in Stewart v Elk Valley Coal Corp
