I Do, Do I? Capacity to Marry and Divorce

The capacity required to be able to say “I do” is rarely questioned, but the implications of saying those two little words are vast.  For youth, saying I do brings consequences under family property laws and support obligations that can and do follow those youth through their lifetimes. For older Canadians, predatory marriages and unintentional revocation of wills are an area of growing concern, but arguably more so is the spiked interest in separation and divorce in the face of failing health and aging. This session will explore these topics with a cross-country scope.
