1:00 pm – 2:30 pm Privacy by Design for COVID-19 Exposure Notification

As the current pandemic was bearing down on the world, Google and Apple fielded a number of calls from global public health officials inquiring about how their technologies and platforms could be leveraged to assist in understanding the spread of the disease and to assist in limiting its spread. Google and Apple, together, created an exposure notification framework for their Android and iOS devices with explicit privacy protections. Join privacy counsel for Google to discuss the company’s experience in building a global framework, while pushing back against proposals to collect user information.

Moderator:
Suzanne Morin, Vice President, Enterprise Conduct, Data Ethics and Chief Privacy Officer

Speakers:
Troy Sauro, Director of Privacy Legal, Google LLC
