Publishing What You Pay: Lessons Learned from the First Year Under ESTMA
Canada’s new regime for mandatory reporting of payments to governments came into force in 2015. The Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA) contains broad reporting obligations for oil, gas and mining companies in their first full financial year after June 1, 2015.
With fines as high as $250,000 per day for violations of ESTMA, corporate counsel and external counsel need to understand how to comply with the legislative requirements adequately and properly. This webinar will examine lessons learned in the first year of mandatory reporting obligations under ESTMA and provide practical tips for advising your clients.
Topics will include:
• Overview of ESTMA and the reporting requirements
• Industry perspective: practical compliance advice for companies
• Legal perspective: reporting challenges and how to advise your clients
• International trends of the publish what you pay movement
